I am very pleased to present this extended issue of Momentum as a tribute to and focus on our donors: the people and organizations that make our work possible. Without them, we would be unable to continue the tradition of world-class scientific research and education for which the University of Houston is now known. It is our honor to acknowledge their thoughtfulness and generosity.
No college can exist without the support, involvement, and counsel of its friends and community. On May 14, we honored another class of outstanding graduates at our commencement ceremony. These exceptional young people, like those who have come before them, are the greatest testament to the power and vision of the people who support the University of Houston. As they continue to make accomplishments that will influence our lives, we can all be proud of the education and preparation we have provided them.
In this issue of Momentum you will find stories about various contributors to the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and the impacts that they have had on our campus. We are also pleased to acknowledge those donors who have made gifts to the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in the twelve months prior to our last issue. Also included is a feature on several very accomplished chemistry alumnae. Finally, you will find a profile on some very exciting research in skin cancer detection by Dr. George Zouridakis.
Please enjoy this issue and let me know what you think.
